Estrada unlucky?

I don't have a better option at C on my hard-luck team (featuring such famous 2005 flops as Eric Chavez, Aubrey Huff, Shawn Green, Vernon Wells, Bobby Crosby and Ben Sheets), and there's really nothing on waivers right now.

But for some reason I'm pretty comfortable with him. His K rate is actually better than last year, both in K/AB and K/BB. Plus, he's hitting better with RISP than with bases empty, which I always consider a good thing.

So, I've just concluded that he's been unlucky so far. Everyone agree with this assessment, or are there some stats I'm overlooking that could help explain his funk thus far?

Anyway...Estrada has been a bit unlucky. About a .265 batting average on balls in play, and a very good .220 line drive percentage (league average is about .170). last year, his BABIP was about .350, and the year before, it was about .310. It shouldn't be as low as .260 right now.

Ok my thoughts on Estrada.

He is a clutch hitter and has proven it over and over but he isn't going to much more than give you a decent average and RBI for a catcher, just what you'd expect. When that will happen and for how long is a question. He is a player that basically takes up two roster spots on any time I have becuase he's not going to give you power,ever, and when his AVG is low all you have is RBI. But that RBI ability makes him worthy of a roster spot.

Basically I view him as a high-maintainence player so I don't think he's that great.
