Kearns?

Kearns hasn't been good in three years. You shouldn't be counting on someone who hasn't been good in three years. He is a guy who looks like a decent option now, someone to take a shot on off of free agency. I don't think you are going to get a legitimate "explanation" for why Kearns isn't hitting from anyone - there have been potentially hundreds of those over the past three years that, after the fact, get lumped into larger categories like "injury" or "wasn't seeing consistent playing time." He's a guy with upside but probably not one you should be playing until he shows some consistency...unless you are in a very deep league or have a horrible, horrible team.

That is a very silly thing to say. Of course he hasn't been good for 3 years since he's been injured all that time. Duh.

Kearns has been killed by injuries. Not too many people know this but he was a higher regarded prospect than Dunn was (although it was close).

I think that maybe he's playing scared? Maybe he just hasn't gotten into a groove due to the mounting injuries over the years? Struggling and then losing your job also doesn't help your confidence.

A change of scenary may do him good. I still think he has enough talent to turn it around this season. If you have room, stash him on the bench and see what happens.

He's only 24 (25 later this month) and he is on pace for almost 500 AB's. His playing time will be there imo.

IF (BIG, GIANT IF) he stays healthy I think everyone will be happy with his stats.

Now if we only had the crystal ball to tell us if something on him is gonna break down or not.

I'm in Cincy also. 1360AM had GM O'Brien on yesterday for weekly interview. Didn't say much I can't remember if Kearns was a topic or not, I know his name was mentioned.

Reasons for inconsistency:
injuries
playing time on regular basis
Willi Mo Pena
Ryan Freel
underachieving as a team, getting to all of them I think.

I think there is a good chance Kearns or Pena will get traded if the right offer is made. There are a couple other young OF's that can backfill also. Griffey is an option to get traded also if he stays healthy and keeps hitting.

I would bench Kearns if you are deep, but don't give up on him. Great American is great place to have 81 of your games.
