Beane and Giambi

Just to escape the other Beane thread :)

I really do wonder what Beane would have done if he had the money to sign Giambi. I mean-he had to have known. Anyone whose read Moneyball knows what an athlete Beane himself is/was, and how he lives in the weight room, by M. Lewis account anyway.

He would have signed him. He almost did sign him but Giambi wanted a no trade clause. Beane wouldn't give him one.

I also don't think the collapse would have been this monumental in OAK. Giambi never seemed like the NY type and I think all the media attention on the situation really accelerated his down fall. Just my thoughts. :-°
