Rick Hill pitching in AA for the Cubs. Who is this guy?? I saw his stats for his last 5 starts and the WHIP & K rate look nice......

IP H R ER BB SO
5.1 3 1 1 3 8
7.0 3 1 1 1 14
7.0 0 0 0 2 12
6.0 3 1 0 2 8
6.0 4 0 0 2 8

He could be someone to keep an eye on

Here are his numbers for the year, obviously they look great but you have to remember he's a 25 year old in AA. He's not exactly young for the league.

9 HR in 57 IP in AA doesn't bode well either. Great K rates, but based on his age and level, I'm guessing at a LH reliever if/when he makes it to the majors.

" ... Hill may be one of the most interesting pitchers in the minor leagues in 2005. Despite the fact that his dominance was never reflected in his ERA (entered the season with a 4.23 career ERA), he has been one of the most overpowering pitchers in the minor leagues since being drafted in the fourth round of the 2002 draft. Hill used his dominant curveball to strike out a total of 297 batters in his first 221 professional innings, and he has taken it a step further this season. The 25-year-old southpaw began the year at Double-A West Tennessee, where he went 4-3 with a 3.28 ERA and 90 strikeouts in 57.2 innings. Those numbers earned Hill a quick promotion to Triple-A Iowa, where he recorded 14 strikeouts in just 6 2/3 innings in his first start."

Hill sounds great. Cubs have some other strong arms too that I think would be ahead of him- Reynel Pinto and Angel Guzman to name just two.

I've seen rumors that has the K machine making his major league debut Sunday at NYY or Tuesday at MIL.

wow...the kid's got a great curveball. ;-D

tough debut though...got tagged for 2 runs, giving up 3 hits...all doubles. 8-o struck out 2 in one inning of work.

prolly not the best day to face FLA hitters... :-b
