Snooker is much more difficult billiard game. Larger table, smaller pockets, etc. Play some snooker and then go over to the billiard table and you'll be surprised how much better you pay attention to your stroke (er, maybe I shouldn't use that word in this forum....someone's gonna run away with that one).
I played snooker all the time in college. Much more fun then regular billiards.

Snooker is played on a large table with 15 red balls and one yellow, green, brown, blue, pink and black ball.
Arranged on the table like this:
The red balls are worth one point each, the yellow 2, green 3, brown 4, blue 5, pink 6 and black 7 points. You must first sink a red and if you do you are allowed to then sink another coloured ball. Always alternating red with a coloured ball. You get the point value associated with the ball that you sank (so red, black, red, brown would be worth 1+7+1+4=13 points). When all of the red balls are gone, you must then sink the coloured balls in order from yellow to black. The object it to get the highest possible score.
It is a very challenging game and there is a lot of strategy because you try to hook your opponent (snooker him). This game is always associated with betting so you can see why I love to play it
