The Cubs signed Mark Pawelek - SP (a Boras guy) before the 3rd rd pick, talk about suprising. 8-o

Hendry has never had a problem with Boras, you have to figure there was a deal ready predraft though. I'm fairly happy with the Cubs draft although it wasn't outstanding.

Yep that's true, though it is still very surprising he signed that quickly ... I expected him to sign fairly soon though. I heard a big reason they took Pawelek over other Boras guys was he was an easier sign. Though personally I like Pawelek as much or more then any other pitcher in the draft, IMO very good pick by the Cubs.

Here's what BA has to say about him in their draft recap

Pawelek topped out at 94-95 mph this year with an effortless delivery. Scouts say his feel for pitching, presence and composure are so advanced for his age that he’s the equivalent of a college sophomore. He has command of four pitches and knows how and when to use his curveball and changeup. Pawelek is the only high school player in this year’s draft who is being advised by Scott Boras and that could have a profound impact on where he is picked.

Hybrid probably has a little more info on him though.
