I heard that Puerto Rico was going to field their own team just like they do for the Olympics.

It will not happen for a very long time (if ever). Especially not right now, there is no way the MLB would subject their players to the Olympic drug testing policy.
Do the MLB player contracts even allow them to play for another team? I would seriously doubt it. What if they got hurt playing in the World Cup? Not only that, but if they have a World Cup, it's going to take place during summer. MLB clubs aren't going to pay their players to play for another team during the season.
Dominican: Can you imagine the team they could have?
1B: Pujols
2B: Soriano
3B: A. Ramirez
SS: Tejada
OF: Sosa
OF: Vlad
OF: Jose Guillen
DH: David Ortiz
SP: Pedro
SP: Colon
SP: Freddy Garcia
SP: Odalis Perez
SP: Jose Lima
RP: Yhency Brazoban
RP: Francisco Cordero
RP: Juan Cruz
RP: Marte
RP: Mesa
RP: Mota
CL: Dotel
And that doesn't even count Luis Castillo, Juan Encarnacion, Pedro Feliz, Julio Franco, Rafael Furcal, Jose Reyes, Rafael Soriano, or Julian Tavarez.
I realize it would take a HUGE effort by the MLB to get their players in the olympics, not the least of which is subjecting them to Olympic drug testing (though I think thats the direction MLB is eventually headed, theyre just being #()*&$# retarded and whiny babies), but it would still be great to watch those teams compete against each other. (And yes puerto rico would field its own team) -- as to dual citizenship players who reside in the US, they get to chose, just like they do in hockey, basketball, or any other sport. You can represent any country you have citizenship in or have resided in for a certain number of years (dont know it off the top of my head)
