anyone have any info on Rolen's injured shoulder...I hope this isnt serious as he seemed to be busting out as of late

Rolen left Tuesday's game in the fifth inning with a sprained left shoulder after a violent collision with Dodgers first baseman Hee-Seop Choi. Rolen grounded back to pitcher Scott Erickson, whose throw to first pulled Choi into foul territory. Rolen crashed into Choi and left holding his upper left arm.
Fantasy Source spin: Abraham Nunez replaced Rolen in the game. Rolen was undergoing precautionary X-rays. Hopefully he didn't separate it.

Sprain....in the same (left) shoulder....

but of a different nature than what happened in 2002.

This one popped backwards, Rolen said. He felt it pop.

In 2002, the shoulder folded inward, and pushed his collarbone out of joint.

Prognosis: no bone damage....will wait to see what his range of motion is tomorrow...but he's really sore....can't move the shoulder backwards.

Cardinals are being tight-lipped, downplaying extent of the injury.

That's usually not a good sign.

Tomorrow should cast additional light on this.

I'll be at the yard tomorrow and will update, obviously.

Cardinals’ third baseman Scott Rolen’s left shoulder was injured in the fifth inning Tuesday night in a collision with Dodger first baseman Hee Seop Choi at first base caused by a bad throw by pitcher Scott Erickson. It was initially called a sprained shoulder as Rolen went for X-rays. That non-throwing shoulder was previously injured in the 2002 playoffs in a collision with Arizona’s Alex Cintron. In June, 2003, at Fenway Park, Rolen injured his neck and collarbone in a play at the plate against Boston’s Jason Varitek and was hampered the rest of the season. More information on the severity of the injury will be known later today. Abraham Nunez replaced Rolen in the field. John Mabry will also see some action if Rolen is out for any period of time.

Clarifying a previous item, The St. Louis Post-Dispatch is reporting the St. Louis Cardinals will not know the severity of the sprain suffered by 3B Scott Rolen (shoulder) until Wednesday, May 11 at the earliest. X-rays performed during the game showed no bone damage, and team trainer Barry Weinberg said the injury is different and less severe than the multiple sprain in 2002 that abbreviated his first playoff appearance.

I don't understand this. With millions and millions of fARGIN dollars on the line in ticket sales, merchandise, and the players themselves. Every freakin year some stallion gets hurt on a freakin play at first base.

Why on God's green earth don't they use those cheesy bright orange secondary extra first base bags to give the 1st baseman, AND the runner room to convey the play at first base without FUGGING colliding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You know those double first base bags they use in softball, and kiddie leagues. I see no reason why this wouldn't benefit every single person available. Us the fantasy players, hehe.. the players themselves, and the ticket buyers who come to see those guys play, and the teams who have millions invested in these guys being able to perform.

Oh I'm sorry. ONce again, that makes too much sense. We wouldn't want to do that. GEEEEEZ such a simple ez affordable solution to the problems at first base.

Every freakin year there's 4 to 7 season hampering, or season ending plays on collisions at first base.

Can you tell i'm gettin tired of this crap? lol

LOOK TO THE DOUBLE FIRST BASE BAGS. one for the runner, and one for the first basemen.

Well, I haven't heard much on the extent of Rolen's injury. All I know for sure is that he's not in the starting lineup today.

Keep Rolen and his left shoulder in your prayers.
