Adding/Dropping pitchers everyday. Good/Bad?

All in all, I have a decent team, but I am in currently in 5th place, 279 pts out of first. The top 3 teams all use the same strategy. They add/drop SP every day so that the have someone starting at all times. With the point setup in our league heavily weighed toward pitching, do we have to follow suit to stay in contention or will this strategy backfire over a long season?

Depends......does your league have a max innings pitched? I wouldnt drop your studs, but I would drop and pick up when the matchup is favorable.

If they are trying to find spot starters with favorable matchups then the strategy can work pretty good. Just trying to start a pitcher for the sake of having one go isnt a good strategy though. As long as they are picking guys that arent getting blown up they will continue to pull away from you just from the sheer amount of innings.

If you can keep it around the limit alot and just drop spot starts for spot starts its good..its hard to stay at the limit though.

At this point in the season, I haven't decided for sure who my stud SP's are.

I don't think theres anything wrong with it moraly speaking. My only concern would be dropping a pitcher who turns around and has a great season, on somebody elses roster.

So I'm not realy a big fan. But each to their own I guess.

So the obvious question is: How many innings are those owners on pace to pitch? Will they be able to continue at this pace all year? If so, I'm guessing you'd better jump on the bandwagon pretty quick or get left behind.

1975 innings over 162 games, averages out to about 12 innings per day. If these guys are going over that amount each day, be patient, they will have to stop pitching all together.
Does the max count towards playoffs?

Personally, I prefer to find horses and ride them through the storm. As i saw posted here, changing pitchers daily, you run the risk of another owner picking up a pitcher you dropped, ;and then being beaten by one win to that same pitcher.

1975 innings is a TON -- youll have to do some spot starting to keep up, but just check if theyre on pace to reach it, or to overshoot it -- im being mocked by the two league leaders in one of my leagues for being 300 pts behind already -- but they each have 500+ innings of a 1200 inning year eaten away (as opposed to my 220), be patient and just check your pace
