When does the true Jose Mesa show up?

Postby BeefSandwiches » Mon May 09, 2005 10:44 pm

...or will he keep this up?

2005 11 games, 11 Ks, 11 SVs, 2.45 ERA, 1.27 WHIP (PIT 13 wins)
2004 70 games, 37 Ks, 43 SVs, 3.25 ERA, 1.41 WHIP (PIT 72 wins)
2003 61 games, 45 Ks, 24 SVs, 6.52 ERA, 1.76 WHIP (PIT 75 wins)
2002 74 games, 64 Ks, 45 SVs, 2.97 ERA, 1.37 WHIP (PIT 72 wins)

Is Mesa in 2002 form or is he going to drop off a bit?

what has he done for people to expect him to fall apart again? it's all i ever here. he had one bad year for a bad phils team (a given i know). he may not get a ton of chances and he will blow a couple just like most closers not named gagne or rivera (in the past). he's always been good he just had one tough year (look at what worrell is going through in philly now). the only concern i would see would be his age.

the real jose mesa is the pretty solid closer that puts up a good amount of saves on bad teams. period.

I would expect a 3 year average.
Bold Predictions:

Grady Sizemore will have more value than Jason Bay regardless of draft position

Aramis Ramirez in 155 G will hit over .300 40 HR 110 RBIs

Brian McCann will have more value than Jorge Posada regardless of draft position

I think he has a very good chance at repeating what he did last year. I bet you were able to get him at much less value in your draft. ;-D

I certainly did. ;-D I don't really care what the general "feeling" is when it comes to Mesa -- he's putting up good numbers, and that's all that matters.
