What numbers will C-Zam put up from here on out?

What can I expect from Zambrano this year and how big of an injury risk does his high pitch-counts make him?

I predict him throwing his entire arm over the plate if he plays another 130+ pitch game. Show's Dusty's trust in his relief - which is warranted in all due respect.

Regardless - this is a no brainer: he's top 10 material.

He should post solid overall numbers from here on out. I think he'll alternate between unhittable and unwatchable with an occasional fight with an ump. Personally, I'm not as bullish on him as many fantasy owners are. I don't think the dude's wrapped too tight (ya gotta be crazy to argue with umps calling your game) and the ridiculously high pitch counts (135+ pitches) have got to come back to bite him at some point, and when they do, it's gonna be ugly.

He'll be just fine until his arm falls off. Then, he will miss the next 1.5 years.

I'd have to advise against Zambrano. A lot of people are high on him, but I'm not one of them. The way Dusty uses and abuses pitchers make me shy away from any pitcher in a Cubs uniform. On top of that his BIPA is .237, but his other ratios are great. On the face of it he seems like a good pitcher the rest of the way, but I don't know if his upside is worth the risk. If you've got him try to sell him, and if he is being offered to you, stay away.

he's been nothing but a total hoss his entire career and hasn't shown a ounce of abnormal fatigue. he's due for a normal 2-3 game rough patch, but that's the worst of it. until there's an indication that there could be a problem, there is no problem. i hope someone in my leagues where i don't own him is getting skittish.

Yeah, he did throw a lot of pitches his last outing. But he's a young, strong, ox of a man. And he's determined and gritty as hell.

A quote from him on Yahoo-

``Like I always say, 130, 140 pitches for me is nothing,'' Zambrano said. ``I work hard and that's why I'm here.''

I like a pitcher with a good work ethic and I like having Zambrano on my team. I think he'll be as good this season as he possibly can be while playing for the Cubs.. assuming he keeps his big dumb trap shut. ;-7

Its silly to say Zambrano will get hurt just because he pitched 1 game over 130, and just because Prior and Wood have been hurt. Otherwise, his pitch counts have been very reasonable, around 100-110. Hes inconsistent at times, but when hes on he is utterly dominant. When he harnesses control over his emotions, he will be a more of a stud than he already is.
