Unfortunately, I missed out on Pat the Bat's outstanding first week, leaving him on my bench. Played him the next week, and obviously, he disappointed and has been in a bit of a slump recently. The question is, is Pat Burrell for real or not? I'm tempted to play him each week, but I hate these random days off he takes and his inconsistent weeks. Any thoughts?
No, he's not for real, and you should have sold high. But now that you've missed your chance...I would bench him until he hits another mini-hot streak (hopefully for you, he will) and then attempt to trade him.
He's comparable to Burnitz IMO, but in a better lineup. Expect a lot of power, with a low average.
I tend to disagree. Over the last month he has hit .250 6Hr and 20 RBIs. I think he is a slightly better hitter than this and should continue to get better during the season.

Burrell is fine and should finish up around the .270-280 mark. Don't deal him unless you can get good value, and make sure you keep him in there for his hot streaks

Do you really want a .250 hitter in your lineup??
250 is great compared to Beltre, Chavez, Konerko, Thome, Matsui, Sexson, etc.
Burrell looks like he is goin to have a pretty decent year. He has done it before. Whether he hits 265 or 295 is anyone's guess.

Almost every single one of those RBIs occurred in the first week of the season. The guy went on a usual slump after his first week. That was the time to trade him.
Just throw him in your lineup and leave him in all year. Be patient. He is very likely heading for a .270 30+hr, 100rbi year. Burrell typically walks quite a bit, so his plate discipline is not bad. I am in an on base percentage league (instead of ave... If you have daily transactions, just check to see if C.Manuel has Burrell in the lineup each night...

He has always been a streaky hitter. He is just going thru one of the cold streaks I hope. I believe he will finish with good power numbers and a decent avg.
There will come a day when Barry Bonds leaves baseball, and everything about the game will be the better for it.
