depedns what you want. madson's in more of a "long-relief" role, as in he eats up 1-3 innings in the middle of the game when it's close. this tends to put him in a position to vulture a decent amount of wins, and he's been pitching well lately. OTOH, gonzalez has a shot of closing for the pirates if mesa blows up. madson really isn't going to close at all.

i think i'd take madson unless you really wanted some save potential, or if it was a keeper (in which case, gonzalez is going to be a closer,a dn probably a pretty good one in a few years).

Madson will usually get more Ks because he pitches more innings, and if you are in a 6x6, he'll get similar ERA and WHIP, and hes now the main holds guy with worrell on the DL.

I actually look at Madsen as a very good keeper pick. Wagner has alredy talked about being done after this year, and i think Madsen could end up closing next year. Whereas I don't know that Gonzalez will get the opprotunity. Mesa could very well be back and even if he leaves Torres may end up closing. Gonzalez being a lefty kinda hurts his chances.
