Brian Giles Splits

Postby Apex » Sat May 07, 2005 12:32 pm

I know everyone says that Petco is an awful park in which to hit, but is there a chance that Brian Giles has completely psyched himself out over it? After the past 2 days in St. Louis, I looked into his home/road splits and game log, and they're amazing. His BA is over 100 points higher on the road, and he has all of his HRs and RBIs on the road.

His most recent hitless streak also ran from the first game of the homestand to the last game of the same homestand. His first game away from SD was 4/5 with a HR, and his second game had a triple, among other things.

My plan for the season was to only start him on the road, but I didn't think the splits would be this bad. Is there a chance this Petco thing has gotten into his head?

His splits are kind of disturbing but you're also dealing with a very small sample size. If it's still like that around June/ASB than that would be pretty bad. I've got Giles as well so I hope he figures out whatever he needs to figure out.

His splits for last year were very similar so that is encouraging.

just wanted to point out that he meant similar to each other, not similar to this year, for those who dont want to look at the link.

Giles has been so awful this season that I doubt the splits mean much. In fact, the road splits are heavily weighted by his great series at Coors at the start of the year. He's been dreadful ever since, although (hopefully!) he's showing signs of life in his last two games, in which he's gone 5-7 with 1 HR, 7 RBI, and 2 runs.

Incidentally, he's apparently batting clean-up in today's game. :-o
