What should I download?

Postby JRM4833 » Fri May 06, 2005 2:28 pm

I'm in a posting mood today so here's a question for everyone. What songs should I download? I love downloading music (I swear I pay for 'em :-o ) and am back up to about 1200 songs after losing everything a while back when my computer died on me.

Just looking for some real good music that I may not already have and I'm sure people have opinions on music. I listen to everything (classic rock, rap, raggae, jazz, even a little bit of heavy metal and much more). Looking for hidden gems, songs that I loved but may have forgotten, covers, etc.. I'll start off with a few just off the top of my head:

Tuesday's Gone (Lynard Skynard) by Metallica (great version)

Back in the Day by Ahmed (or something)

I Know You Rider by anyone (Dead song, my favorite version is The Other Ones with Bruce Hornsby ... incredible version but there are so many versions online)

I'm going blank without my songs in front of me. Usually I just hit random and let it go for hours.

I've already got a lot of this stuff.

I'll go through a few of them. I have tons of Black Crowes, including a great live CD (Sunflowers or something like that) and I saw their last show Halloween night a couple years ago before they broke up. Seeing them again like next month but I hate myself for not having the cash to see them when they come with Petty. I just downloaded Loser by Beck last week because I had forgotten about the song. I may have to go get some STP though since I kind of forgot about them too.

I heard different takes on the new Beck but I'll check out those two songs (I have Hell Yes already).

I've got more Zepelin bootleg stuff then I know what to do with. But I can never have enough. And I love the ACDC live CD.

Some of ACS's stuff I don't know the songs off the top of my head (at least not by the title) so I'll check that out when I get home.

A couple of my absolute favorites are:

Dave Matthews Band: The Central Park Concert- Warehouse, Jimi Thing, Dancing Nancies, Cortez the Killer in that order. All songs over 9 minutes and Jimi Thing is 16 min, so you'll certainly get your money's worth. ;-D

DMB: Polo Grounds- Jimi Thing and All Along the Watchtower (featuring Santana)

My favorite country song: Toby Keith- Beer For My Horses :-b

other great songs:
Dispatch- The General
Bruce Hornsby- That's Just the Way It Is (might not be the exact title)
David Bowie & Queen- Under Pressure
Clapton: Unplugged- Layla (I think this version is much better)
Sinatra: Don'cha Go Away Mad
Billy Joel- Keeping the Faith (everything else as well
Really if I could own only one album it'd be the Dave Matthews Band Central Park Concert. Just amazing. ;-D ;-D )

I've never been a huge fan of DMB but I do have one of his live cds (double I think) with All Along The Watchtower. His version of In My Life at the John Lennon tribute was awesome though. He did it solo with a piano. I'll check some of those out though.

The rest of the list include some songs that I like but don't have yet. I love Sinatra but never heard of that song though. All sound cool.

Now who the hell is Justin Guarini?

Ha, that curly haired loser from the first season of American Idol. Remember "From Justin to Kelly"? That was a classic. :-b
