What is wrong with this guy?

If Billy Wagner goes down, does the Phillies even consider giving him the ball?

He's worthless at this point in non-holds leagues. If anything, he's hurting Wagner by making Philly bring him in during the 8th.

Madson should take over as setup man from everything I've read, and that's a welcome sight in this Wagner owners' eyes. :-/

May 6, 2005

PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Phillies reliever Tim Worrell was placed on the disabled list Friday after telling the team he had ``personal psychological issues.''

Worrell, the setup man for closer Billy Wagner, has had a terrible start to the season, giving up 22 hits and 12 earned runs in 11 innings. He has appeared in 14 games for Philadelphia and has an ERA of 9.82.

In Thursday's 7-5 loss in New York to the Mets, Worrell pitched the eighth inning and allowed three runs -- all on Mike Piazza's home run -- three hits and a walk.

``I called (general manager) Ed Wade last night to tell him that I am dealing with some personal psychological issues that I need to resolve,'' Worrell said Friday in a statement issued by the team. ``They are affecting my family life and my ability to do my job. I am going to deal with these issues and I hope to resolve them as quickly as possible.''

Worrell is in the second year of a $5.5 million, two-year contract with the Phillies. A former closer in San Francisco, he filled in when Wagner was injured last year.

``I appreciate the Phillies' understanding and their pledge of confidentiality,'' Worrell said.

Before the Phillies opened a series Friday in Chicago against the Cubs, they recalled right-hander Robinson Tejeda from Scranton Wilkes-Barre to take Worrell's roster spot.

Phillies manager Charlie Manuel said he didn't find out about Worrell's status until Wade called him Friday morning.

``I knew he was having some personal problems, but I didn't know to what extent,'' Manuel said.

Wow...poor guy. Hope he gets everything straightened out.
If a man dwells on the past, then he robs the present.
But if a man ignores the past, he may rob the future.
The seeds of our destiny are nurtured by the roots of our past.
