I would love to do a live-mock-auction draft. The auction is where it's at!
I could even offer up a Jabber server that we could use and log all the proceedings. Wouldn't be much to set-up at all. The hardest part is getting a bunch of people together for a few hours, sorry I ment a few FREE hours.

What do you think of my silent auction idea? I wonder if Arlo would give us a forum for it. I would be willing to the be moderator and not participate. We could offer the players in the order they were taken in the mock draft, each day one player is up for grabs. Everyone PMs me their bids and I'll declare the winner each night at a set time.

I think it would be too hard to get my wife to let me have free time on the weekend three times for drafts, she already complains about me having two.

Regarding consitutions, one important thing is to be prepared for any eventuality. Many leagues were thrown into turmoil last year when a work stoppage/strike/lockout looked possible, simply because their constitutions didn't account for this possibility. Some arguments over whether the season would have to be annulled or whether the leader would be declared the champion turned pretty bitter; a comprehensive constitution could have avoided this. Touch all the bases!

Another detail that's important to me is that the commish must never be seen as gaining an unfair advantage from this position. In my league, the commish has the tie-breaking vote in all decisions except those involving his or her team, which the commish automatically loses.

And if enough people want to hold an auction on this board, we'd of course be happy to provide whatever support we can, including the chat room or a separate forum. Just let me (or menyak, for technical issues) know.

I like the silent auction approach too. I'm in unless we want to let someone not drafting now in - maybe arkman will let me be his advisor.

One thing to consider is not doing it in draft order as the dynamic of value is interesting too and you'll have 10 of the best gone before everyone gets a feel for one another.
