Jeff Allison pitching tonight

Postby bigken117 » Thu May 05, 2005 6:35 pm

for Florida's Sally affiliate Greensboro

Salem (Mass) News wrote: Peabody baseball standout Jeff Allison gets back in the game tonight when the Florida Marlins' former No. 1 draft pick gets to pitch for the first time in 21 months since a widely publicized heroin overdose last summer.

The Greensboro Grasshoppers, a Class A affiliate of the Marlins in the South Atlantic League, have removed the 20-year-old right-handed power pitcher from the team's inactive list. Allison is scheduled to start tonight at home (7 p.m.) against the visiting Delmarva Shorebirds, a Baltimore Orioles' farm club from Salisbury, Md.

Good luck to him. He has too much talent to waste...

His stat line in his first start was:

5IP 7H 3ER 0BB 3K

Not a bad start for his first in it seems 2 years. His velocity isn't where it used to be, but that is somewhat expected since he has had such a long lay off. Most encouraging is that he didn't walk anyone, cause with that much rust it would of been expected.

Does anyone how he's doing? He's only pitched 20 innings so far this year and wondering if there was something wrong with him again.
