with the fracture in pudge's hand how often is he gonna sit? is there anyway of knowing ahead of time?

I don't think Pudge's sitting has anything to do with his hand but more to do with his manager. He wanted to give Pudge the day off with an off day today making it two days off.

Trammell is trying to show how smart he is by resting Pudge a lot now so that he will be stronger at the end of the season. Problem is that the Tigers are not scoring when he is out of the line-up and losing. So while Pudge might be stronger later, the games he is being saved for are more likely to be meaningless.

And though I feel that Pudge's light-weight hitting so far is from I Riods' weight loss, it could be that it is harder for him to stay in a hitting grove when he is rested so much.

He just has no experience. His first two years the Tigers were so awful that no one took him to task for his stupid moves. So he never learned. He can't seem to stop messing with the line-up, even when players are healthy enough, and is obsessed with saving his stars for the last third of the season.

He once sat Pudge because he caught an extra-inning game the night before. It was an 11 inning game! He had his ace, who was on a roll, move a scheduled start back a game so he could give his # 5 starter his scheduled start. The result was Bonderman giving up 6 runs in the first inning. Ya just don't mess with what's working.

I must say that I have very little faith in Trammell's ability to manage at this point. I even suspect that Urbina's trade was a result of Trammell insisting that Percival be given the closer role back. Ugie blew a gasget and the Tigers lost a valueable piece of trade bait. But that is speculation on my part, I have no evidence of this occuring.
