a few questions:
would the giants trade him if they feel ellison is ready to be an everyday player? are there teams that would trade for him? could he fetch a closer-caliber player? regardless of whether he gets traded, how many games will he play and will he rebound?
he has always struck me as a decent ballplayer, and he certainly had a solid year last year. he is on waivers in a really deep league of mine, and i am probably gonna drop byrnes for him if he clears, but wont use my #2 priority (15 teams). he's like byrnes in that he is really struggling against RHP this season

The way Jason Ellison is playing, I would have to yes to all of the above. The Giants really need a closer, but have much to trade with. If I were the GM, I would be shopping both Grissom and Durham. Maybe together they are worth Urbina. Assuming that is what Detroit is looking for.
It's really not hard have good numbers around Bonds in the order.
Remember Rich Aurilia.
I would not pick up Grissom until he makes a major improvement both at the plate and in the field. He appears to have lost his judgement and a few steps.
He belongs on the MLB waiver wire too.

I think the question is, who would even want Grissom? The Giants wouldn't find any takers if they expected to get anything worthwhile. Durham+Grissom for Urbina is not even a possibility as two guys nearing the end of their careers is definitely not what the Tigers are looking for. Byrnes is probably an upgrade over Grissom as Byrnes still has a fair amount of upside.
