Agreed... I was surprised how well he did against the O's. He did a great job of picking his spots. His fantasy value is hurt somewhat by his lack of K's, but his low BB numbers sure are nice for his WHIP.
To me, Towers is the epitome of a guy who has the potential to be a great reliable pitcher you'd love to have on your favorite team but a relatively mediocre fantasy player, a la Jamie Moyer or Tim Wakefield.
In other words, he's not gonna carry your pitching staff but he's worth a roster spot depending on the size of your league and how well situated you are in the strikeout department.
The thing with Towers is, for every great game he has, he will also have a terrible one. This has always been his history. It's not unprecedented for him to have a great game like that, but there's no reason to be confident he can keep it up and avoid getting blown up again within a couple of games or so. I'd like to see him go on a run of good games (2 or 3 or so) before I'd pick him up.
His HR/9IP heading into his last start was a really scary 1.65, but he has since lowered it to 1.27. The rest of his periphials are very good. If he can keep the ball in the park, he'll have some nice value. Fits right in line with what RugbyD said.
