What's REALLY funny is how some teams (cough...the Cubs) think that you automatically get in the playoffs if you made it the year before, and throw in the towel come September and then quickly get overtaken by the Astros.

I remember they did. I think it was in the 1990's when they scored 9 or 10 in the 9th to win. Can someone help me with date/opponent/actual runs scored?
maybe it was one of these games you were thinking of?
true, but if you look at a different time frame, say from 1926 through 2004, the cards have a decided advantage with an 806-698. so unless you are ridiculously old, you werent alive for any of the cubs 'glory years.'

All that matters is that throughout baseball history, when the last out of the game has been made, the Cubs have been ahead of the Cardinals more times than not. If it was the other way, you'd jump all over it. So no matter how aweful we truly are (I admit it), your STL's have lost more times to the Cubs than they have beaten them.

you are right, i would probably rub it in your face if it were the other way around. i guess i will just have to console myself with 9 world championships, second most all time i think?
