in my 12 team keeper league(6x6 h2h),the comish just informed me that we are to drop a player before our upcoming draft...i've decided it must be either Klesko or Sweeny...help me out here.
I didn't really say everything I said.

I'd drop Sweeney. A few reasons: 1. An injury history - I'm not convinced that his leg will ever be the same and I may be wrong but I think I remember him having back problems. 2. KC has already said that no one is untouchable. That could mean two things. If Beltran is traded, then Sweeney has even less protection and if Sweeney is traded than he may have to adjust to a new league and we all saw what happened last year to Alomar. 3. I don't like the A.L. and am NL biased because the Designated Hitter is the closest thing to the Anti-Christ that I've ever seen.
Apparently nobody outside KC known this (since Peter Gammons does not either) but Sweeney has a NO TRADE CLAUSE in his contract for 2003 AND 2004. Also if the Royals finish under .500 in 2003 AND 2004 Sweeney can choose to void the rest of his contract.
Now...IMO, Sweeney does not get any credit. Last year was the first time he had been on the DL, and he still hit 24 HR. Also he finished 2nd in the batting race last year.
it seems that you guys are as divided on this as i am... i do get the 1st draft pick, but i expect some other owners will have to drop someone i want even more than either of these 2...so i most likely won't get whoever i drop back in a later round...i was all set to take abreu with my #1, but i will have to see if someone better shows up from the other 11 drops...looking at all the rosters, i expect that i will stay with abreu...i hope thome helps him as much as many seem to think he will...thanks for all your input, i'm gonna chew on this and not decide until the comish gives me a deadline... i'm also gonna see if i can get someone to trade me a "better then sweeney" and their worst player for these 2, then i'll drop the "worst guy" and end up with someone "better then sweeney"...hope it works

When i first saw this, i thought, you know its close. But after i compared their last 3 years, i got to go Sweeney.
Total $ earned in 3 years, Mike 92, Ryan 85. Sweeney has displayed a better avg by far, slugging about even. Klesko had 2 big years where his sb inflated his value. If he steals 7-8 like Mike does, Mike will out hit him. Shandlers projected values this year are Mike at 34, Ryan 29.
