i've been using the middle reliever strategy, except that gordon hasnt been so hot. is it worth holding onto him if i can just pick up another reliever off the fa?

Ditto. I picked up Ryan Wagner instead.....much better decision.

Pick up
Jorge Julio instead if you need a good wire MR option. Ryan may get the closes but this guy's low whip and ERA can only help. Plus, he will see some closer attempts and save/win opportunities. Plus he has the bats to back him up.

What about if you count K/9?
I've been looking at dropping him but he still gets K's. I keep wanting to drop him because I really need to drop a P for some offense. So if you count k/9 does it change anything??

I wouldn't associate Julio with good ERA or WHIP. His only appeal relative to the "elite" MRs such as Donnelly, Gonzalez, et al is that he stands a chance to get traded to SF or elsewhere to close.

I think it might be a little early to give up on Gordon. He is a quality releiver and has been proving it for some time now. He pitches for a very good team who is playing 7 games this week (4 against TB and 3 v. Oak). He should get a lot of chances to straighten things out. He is a veteran and will make adjustments. The way to look at it is that he can only go up from his terrible start and this guy has a ton of upside as does the Yankees as a team.
Nothing like a 4 game series with TB to right the ship.

I thought I was golden when I drafted Tom Gordon & Mike Gonzalez in a league that counts holds. These guys are killing me!
The worst part is having to pick up additional holds guys and then put Gordon & Gonzalez on the bench until they get hot.
The rosters are tight already and having to bench these 2 "super" MR's is getting on my nerves.
I'll never draft MR's and RP's again. Never.
What are you guys doing?
