Plus I hear Randolpf has the ball and chain on the running game, see Carlos Beltran's steal #s or lack there of. I wanted Kaz in part because of his supposed running ability.
I dropped him a few days ago. Cleared waivers, sat in the FA pool for a day, and then someone picked him up (12 team league which uses MI spot also).
I think he's pretty much droppable, if there is someone decent out there (I'm using Counsell now).
Was that the one where you traded Brian Roberts for Kaz preseason? Oops
I'm a bit confused here ... everyone saw Kaz's stat line from last year. Scouts expected him to be just an average SS this year. I don't think I saw a fantasy service that rated him higher than mid-pack. Are folks surprised that he is less than average one month into the season? It hardly qualifies as a shocker.

Yep, it was. So basically I traded Brian Roberts away for nothing.
I think you guys are being a little to to harsh... Kaz has hit safely in 9 of the last 10 games and it isnt his fualt that no one is hitting him in or that he is getting no RBI opps. If he was allowed to steal Im sure he would have about 8 SB by now...... Give the guy a break.

I agree. As much as I want to drop him, the SS/2B combo and lack there of on the wire permitt me to sit tight. I think he is going to be great still this year and seems to be climbing out of his issues. It's just too bad he plays for such an unforgiving coast.

When (if) I see the Mets being more aggressive on the basepaths, it will be time to pick him up. Until then, he's a terrible option as even his own city doesn't like him (understandably). It's only a matter of time until he's either dropped in the order or benched outright for Cairo IMO.
I think Mets fans' dislike of Kaz is a little different than the fantasy perspective. As far as fantasy goes Kaz hasn't been that bad. He's not a top tier 2B/SS but I don't really think anyone expected that. Going into drafts you could get him reasonably late, could get reasonable numbers for a 2B and anything he produced above that would be a bonus. So I'm not sure what the fantasy gripe is about Kaz. I think Mets fans on the other hand are just growing tired of the soap opera that has been Kaz ever since he came over from Japan.
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

The fantasy gripe about Kaz (and all Mets thus far) is that he has the potential to steal 20-30 bases, and Willie "Brakes" Randolph won't allow it because he enjoys losing the close games.
At this point last year Kaz had 1 SB, this year he has 2 SBs. Not sure what you're expecting from Kaz but he is "on pace".
I think the main reason for the lack of steal attempts for the Mets has been situational.
