is japan really that hard up for ballplayers? this guy is just not that good. what was all the hubbub when he came over here? not especially strong defense; not a very patient (or strong) hitter; not all that quick, either. what gives?
I bought into all the hype and was happy to have him on my team, I have rarely used him and am considering dropping him. I know its early but I have not seen any "greatness" yet.
Plus I hear Randolpf has the ball and chain on the running game, see Carlos Beltran's steal #s or lack there of. I wanted Kaz in part because of his supposed running ability.

I dropped him a few days ago. Cleared waivers, sat in the FA pool for a day, and then someone picked him up (12 team league which uses MI spot also).
I think he's pretty much droppable, if there is someone decent out there (I'm using Counsell now).

some players just make the transition better and some don't. look at godzilla and ichiro. kaz's supreme suckitude doesn't reflect on the state of japanese baseball.
Aside from fantasy, this guy still isnt that good. Ive seen him make fundamental errors on things that are not recorded in fantasy. I have had doubts that he still has not completely grasped American baseball.

i don't know-luckily i drafted him and Iguchi, who seems to be doing just fine.
Yeah, I unfortunately fell prey to having him on my team for 3 weeks. AND...GET THIS...HE WAS STILL ON MY TEAM WHILE BRIAN ROBERTS WAS A FREE AGENT OUT THERE FOR THE TAKING, FOR TWO WEEKS!!! AND OF COURSE...B-ROB DISAPPEARED BEFORE I DROPPED K-MAT. I AM GENIUS!!! oh the regrets...
Kaz Matsui war stories... well, I'll pull up a stump. I thought it would be great to get him and Beltran as a 1-2 punch for my H2H league. Figured I'd get a bucket-full of steals and some nice RBI-R combos with Beltran driving him in. Turns out you can't get steals or runs when the SOB can't get on base.
I dropped Matsui like a bag of dirt and somehow managed to push Beltran for Tejada even up. Now I'm taking over-unders on how long Willie Randolph tenure as head coach will last. The line is currently August 10. Any takers?
