This makes a big difference because many of the games played so far have been in cold/bad weather which tends to prevent HRs.

The entire 2004 season.

Are you sure the stats they show are not only through April 29? On the espn.com Juice Box thing, it does say "Through April 29." So I would assume that what they are showing now for all the years would only be for the first 4 weeks. That would make more sense.

Code: Select all
Through Apr 29    2002    2003    2004    2005
Homers Per Game   1.043   1.071   1.123   .953

Doubles per game  1.793   1.816   1.837   1.755
Aggregate SLG     .417    .422    .428    .410

maybe so. the drop does seem statistically insignificant to me, though.
Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day, teach a man to fish and he'll drown because you forgot to teach him to swim.

Yea, the numbers given are through April 29. At the end of last season, there were 2.25 homers per game and 9.63 runs per game. I do agree that the numbers so far are pretty much statistically insignificant, and the number of hr per game will definately increase by the end of the season.

If anyone was wondering, the highest averages in mlb history came in 2000, there were 2.34 hr per game and 10.58 runs per game.
