To a smattering of boos from the handful of fans who remained in the stands at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard, Rocker jogged in to pitch the bottom of the ninth, electing not to unveil his trademark all-out sprint.
With the score tied at 3, Rocker retired Rolo Avila on a pop to third, then walked Corey Hart. He caught former big-leaguer D.J. Boston looking at a tight, late-breaking slider, bringing up Michael Coleman, who had launched the 450-foot home run to centerfield an inning earlier off reliever Jeff Austin.
With his long hair billowing out from under his dark green Ducks cap, Rocker uncorked a wild 2-and-2 pitch to put Hart in scoring position, then walked Coleman, who played briefly for both the Yankees and Red Sox, on a high, inside fastball.
After another wild pitch put runners on second and third, Rocker intentionally walked Jamie Gann.
Pinch hitter Will Pennyfeather ran the count full, fouled off two fastballs, and, on Rocker's 31st pitch, Pennyfeather walked to force in the winning run in the Bluefish's 4-3 victory. It was Rocker's fourth walk of the inning. He threw 18 balls.
Seems he's got some kinks to iron out, but that should be expected.
At least no one threw anything at him.
