Posada's getting pretty old as well and as of yet is only batting .250 on the season with one homerun. Add to this to fewer games started than most catchers because of designated rest days (except Varitek), and is he no longer a top 5 catcher?

He might be on the decline but most of the yankee lineup is not doing much right now. As far as the designated off days, every catchers has them. He might have taken off a couple days off here and there, but will still end up with a lot of at bats.

It would not surprise if he declines this season given his age and wear and tear, but I don't think a .250 BA over less than 4 weeks of the season is sufficient evidence to prove that this is the case.
