I have Shin-Soo Choo as one of my minor leaguers who I will have to either activate or lose next week unless they send him back down. They have had him up for 8 days and he has one at bat...
Why would they sit a good prospect instead of either playing him or sending back down?
You don't have to like 'em to own 'em!!!!

With our league's minor leagues. we get to keep them there until they no longer meet rookie status for abs or IPs. That helps to avoid things just like this. Maybe y'all might want to change rules. It's really not fair to go to the trouble of researching the players, being smart enough to pick them up and then basically dump them when something like this happens.

Our rules state that you have to either activate or release in two weeks. I know he's just a utility player for them, but he is one of their top prospects, just looks like they would send him down and let him play instead of sitting on bench night after night

Why don't you write a heartfelt letter to their front office, I'm sure they'll understand. We're a very caring organization you know...

The M's signed Dave Hansen today, and they're talking about it during the game. Hansen joined the M's AAA team tonight. Sounds like they'll probably be sending Choo down soon and replacing him with Hansen, so they might get Choo back down before the end of the week (if you're lucky).

On the plus side, he does have an awesome name. Just hope they ship him down, or you are boned.

I have Choo as one of my prospects in a keeper league. If I had to make that choice right now I would opt to outright release him.
If those are your rules, then it makes sense to drop him. You can find another OF that will help you immediately. Choo is not ready.
Assuming this is a keeper league, how many do you keep? No matter how many you do, I'm sure Choo won't reach keeper status this year.
I think Choo is a decent bet to add speed to your team eventually. It's a shame you have to make this choice now. You and your leaguemates should discuss changing the rules regarding this.

I also expect him back down very soon.
My apologies. I have a nephew named Anfernee, and I know how mad he gets when I call him Anthony. Almost as mad as I get when I think about the fact that my sister named him Anfernee.
