I think he probably picked Shilling as his AL Cy Young as well but I don't remember. I stopped listening to him as he is just a correspondant for the NE biased ESPN honks. He will throw in an Adrian Beltre is the greatest 3B outside of AROD every once in a while to make himself appear that he cares about anyone besides the Sox and the Yanks.
Pedro has a good shot at that. The rest of those picks... ugh... .
Your wisemen don't know how it feels to be thick as a brick...
He said last night he already feels Clemens is a Yankee because he is so sure that he'll get traded to the Yanks by the dealine (due to Houston's anemic offense so far).
Come to think about it, who has he predicted to do well that actually did do well?
I remember the first year I played Fantasy baseball (01 maybe) he touted Jimmy Rollins and Albert Pujols... I picked up Rollins, but missed out on Pujols... I remember him touting Carpenter last year as well, which really helped my nl-only team.
The general rule I have heard with Gammons is, if he heard it from someone else its probably good, but if he thinks it... well then its a crapshoot.
Gammons has always been a guy who makes his hay with excellent sources so he gets the scoop and inside dish on the issue of the day. Once he moves into an analytic role, he is out of his element. He is a great reporter in the sense he has the info first, but that is pretty much all that makes him excpetional.
Plus he has been sporting a particularly ugly selection of ties lately in my view.
Gammons used to be good and he still gets good info on players, teams, etc. But he doesn't what he is talking about half the time lately about the players he is talking about, it looks sometimes like his head is about to fall off and it leans to like the right side sometimes. lmao
Screw the Peavy and Burnett Watches, I'm probably one of the laziest people in the world

LOL yeah I noticed the tie thing too. The one he wore last night was AWFUL! I thought my TV was gonna blow up.
