Yahoo keeps saying that Brian Giles is a top 10 NL outfielder, but yet, it's frustrating to see him struggle so much. He's batting just .222, 3 HRs, 10 RBIs. Just wondering what others thought of him, is he going to bounce back and have a 300/30/100 type year?
.300/30/100...not playing at Petco, which is simply hell for lefty pull hitters. Giles has generally been a very slow starter, so what's happening now isn't all that radical. But if you drafted him hoping for a return to his Pittsburgh numbers, that won't happen.
Yeah, Giles was on the WW (just a six-person league), and I needed some pop out of my OF. But I guess, you're right, Petco ain't all too friendly to lefty hitters.
I have Giles and Carlos Lee in my OF and they both got off to great starts and have then been TERRIBLE. Petco is tough on hitters, to be sure, but Giles posted better numbers there at home last year (287-10-41-45 in 293 at-bats) than on the road. If he can hit 287 in Petco, he should be hitting 300+ on the road.
As of now, he's hitting a horrible 224, but he's got 3 HR, 11 RBI, 13 runs, and 2 steals. Those HR, RBI, run, and steal numbers are impressive given his awful BA. If he starts hitting, he could be sitting on an RBI and run goldmine.
I see him going 290-25-100-100-10 this year, with some upside for a few more HR and RBI.
I am the Master. Don't question the Master. Just do what he says and be proud.

Pedro Feliz, Luis Matos, Jason Lane, Chone Figgins, Carl Everett, Burnitz, Wilkerson, Encarnacion, Luis Gonzalez, Brady Clark, Victor Diaz, JD Drew, Carlos Lee, Biggio, Kotsay, Vernon Wells, Inge.
Any of these players worth taking then over Giles?
