Jones or Alou, who will break out?

Postby drunkenmonkey » Wed Apr 27, 2005 6:28 pm

I've had Alou stashed on the DL in one league, but I've had to activate him. Another owner got tired of waiting on Andruw Jones and dropped him. I can get him off waivers, but the only player on my team who is not performing to this point is Alou. Should I drop him now and pick up Jones, who is showing signs of life?

I also have Brady Clark, who is playing well right now, but I'm not sure how long he can keep it up. If I drop him, someone will probably pick him up off waivers. What would you do in my situation?
It's time to roll the dice.

I realized Justin Morneau was also on waivers, so I came up with a plan.

I packaged a three for one deal that another owner has accepted. I give up Brady Clark, Dmitri Young, and Orlando Hernandez and I get Roy Halladay. I figured I'd then pick up Morneau and Jones off waivers and be better off all around. However, the league gets to vote on the trade, and while I don't doubt it'll go through, it won't happen until May 2nd. Meanwhile, Morneau is heating up and I'm afraid he won't last.

Should I drop Alou for Morneau and then once the trade goes through try to pick Alou back up along with Jones. I'm hopeing Alou's 4 for 26 will keep anyone from picking him up.

Sounds like the ideal plan to me personally...go for it. And good trade. ;-D

It would be my bet you will lose one of the two. Personally, I would rather have Alou, as I like proven commodities. Congratulations on trading a sow's ear for a silk purse, though.

I'd take Jones over Alou this year. I think last year was a pretty big fluke for Alou.
