BEst bet to replace him is Tavarez. If its King The Cards have very unproven leftys.
They need King for that role.
Likely La Rusa will use who ever the heck he feels like though.

Long shot could be Journell, who was a closer in Memphis. But after a good outing he had a really bad one this week, and might be sent back down. Controll issuse, throws hard.

Apr 27 Fox Sports Midwest reports St. Louis Cardinals manager Tony La Russa will install a closer-by-committee system with CL Jason Isringhausen out. RPs Julian Tavarez and Ray King are the favorites to close out games, but it will depend solely on situations.

ST. LOUIS (AP) -- St. Louis Cardinals closer Jason Isringhausen was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Wednesday with a strained right abdominal muscle.

Isringhausen was injured in the ninth inning of a 5-3 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday. He has gone 7-for-7 in save opportunities this season, allowing one run in 8 1-3 innings with six strikeouts and six walks.

He had made a full recovery from offseason hip surgery, an injury that hindered him much of last season even though he tied the franchise record with 47 saves.

Manager Tony La Russa said Isringhausen likely will be sidelined two weeks. In the meantime, setup men Julian Tavarez and Ray King were expected to get the bulk of the closer duty.

To replace Isringhausen on the roster, the Cardinals recalled left-hander Carmen Cali from Triple-A Memphis.

The Cards don't really have a "next in line" RP, so expect the duties to get spread around. I would suspect that Tavarez will see more than most others in the bullpen though, so if you've got Izzy, go for Tavarez.
