I am looking for the best draft software for baseball. I have looked at:

PC Drafter
Roto Lab
draftanalyzer
RotoWire

Any others that are worth looking at?

I hear Roto Lab is excellent. I am considering buying it.

Any other users of rotolab care to share their experience with it? Was it good? Worth the money? What about some of the others out there like Fantastics and Diamond Draft?

Ha! Nice one garf. I was just breezing through the Cafe taking a break from updating the Compiler/Buddy for '09 and came across this post. Yes, I am Canadian, but Rick (in charge of the projections) is from Georgia. I think there was a little too much Braves bias in his projections last year, but outside of that I think they were good - deep, detailed, not unreasonable expectations. I know he puts a ton of thought and work into them. At some point I hope we can get him to write player summaries to further explain his thinking on the projections. You might want to check out his blog, found here:

And by all means if you disagree with him, then let him know. He can take it :)

I use my own excel spreadsheet at the draft, but am considering using a tool like these. So, I was investigating and I found three of the four of the above. But I can't find PC Drafter does anyone have a URL? Here are the URLs for the other three:

Roto Lab http://www.rotolab.com/
draftanalyzer http://www.draftanalyzer.com/
RotoWire http://www.rotowire.com/Baseball/draftsoftware.htm

I also didn't see mentioned diamond draft at http://www.diamonddraft.com/

Finally, we also have our very own Cafe version of a free draft tracker (Thanks to those cafe members who put it together!) at http://megaupload.com/?d=WBNV8B3U

I have some free mock draft software. You can use it to do practice mock drafts vs the computer or use it during your actual draft.

Blog site is: MLB Mock Draft Software

A complete description of the software is at the blog. For a download, currently you will have to email me for the zip file that contains the setup.exe. It comes with some 2009 projections that I converted over to the correct format for the software to read, but I suggest people modify them to their own liking or provide your own in the proper format.

Features Include (but are not limited to)
1. Customizeable leagues
2. snake, flat, out of order drafts.
3. Projection editing utility
4. Updated league standings
5. Slick tool that tells you which one or two player combination moves you up the most in the standings.
6. AI algorithm that projects how many stats it will take to win a category.
7. Replacement level algorithm for ranking players
8. Keeps track of rosters
9. You can provide your own input file with players listed in ranked order and the software will use that to rank players (you can easily toggle between rankings from projections or ADP file)
10. The ability to save a partially completed draft and pick up from where you left off.

Nope. It's tailored to Yahoo Roto type leagues. It's in the "to do" list of upgrades. Perhaps for the 2010 season. Wow, it's hard to believe it's almost 2010.
