Is he even worth a decent waiver priority? He's not even a permanent closer and he plays on the absolute worst team in the league who frequently insert their closers in non-save situations (blow outs) because they suck so bad. If he's a FA or if you have a bad waiver priority I guess he's worth a look...but otherwise I'm steering clear.

Also, he's likely to get replaced by Affeldt when he comes back so...

I think if you're an Affeldt owner like me it makes a lot of sense to go after him. Of course, I'm in 14th in my waiver priority, so I'm not expecting to be successful either way.

Maybe someone with more familiarity with KC prospects can clarify but doesn't this guy have huge upside as a dominating closer? High 90s flamethrower that had some control issues that I guess are now under wraps?

Huge upside, but the Royals are so bad there aren't many games to be saved (this from a Royal fan). He'll lose the job back to Affeldt once he returns as well. I don't think Burgos is ready yet....they're pushing him too fast IMO.

I'm not so sure Burgos loses the job back to Affeldt if he does well in this audition. That in itself is debatable, as he's very raw and in my estimation probably not ready yet. But if he connects, Affeldt may be moved into another role. Nothing is definite in KC.
