The Chicago Tribune is speculating that Michael Wuertz could be tabbed the team's interim closer until Chad Fox (arm) or Joe Borowski (broken wrist) returns from injury.
(Updated 04/26/2005). Wuertz saved 19 games for Triple-A Iowa last year and he currently owns a 0.96 ERA this season.

On speculation alone, he's worth picking up.

I picked up Wuertz as soon as Hawkins blew his most recent save...I am a longtime NL only guy...and I knew Chad Fox wouldn't stay healthy for long... :-[

Word. I just dropped Hawkins for Wuertz right now.

Wuertz's numbers look darn good from this year and in AAA.

I'll have to send him a thank you letter.

He was used in the seventh again by Dusty...it looks like he may go back to Hawkins as his closer?
