Most of you know that Nolan Ryan leads the majors in career Strikeouts. Before him, for many years, Walter Johnson led the league. However, for one year, between the two, someone else held that title. Who was it?

Actually nobody had the record between Johnson and Ryan. Ryan broke Johnson's record on 4/27/83. On 6/7/83 Carlton passed Ryan for the first time. From 4/27/83 to 9/5/84 the record changed hands 20 times before Ryan finally took the lead for good. Carlton had the record from 7/28/83 to 8/30/84 with the exception of 4 days from 5/26/84 to 5/29/84 when Ryan had 3758 strikeouts and Carlton had 3757.
