In need of saves, yesterday I read that Hawkins is out as closer in Chicago. Having already picked up Burgos, I keep tabs on the Cubs game to see who gets the call. When I see that Fox has two outs in the 9th, I go get him.
I drop Turnbow for Fox.
It's worth mentioning that I have Adams too. I had Turnbow as his backup. I decided a bird in hand is better than a closer in waiting and make the move.
Hours later Turnbow gets the save for the Brewers. A day later, Fox's shoulder is sitting on Sheffield Ave next to the homerun he gave up.
Now I have to use my #1 waiver priority to get a guy that I DROPPED.
Anyone else have any bad pickup/drop stories so far this season?

What might make this even worse is that if this is a yahoo league, you cannot pick someone up off waivers that you dropped...you have to let him clear.

Pretty unlucky couple of days.
Luckily I'm in a SportsLine league, so I can get Turnbow back.
I hope these moves don't mean the powers that be are going to take away my little 'expert' icon!

I am new to CBS leagues (played for years on Yahoo and ESPN, this is my first year on CBS), but it seems to me that closers have a little less value than in Yahoo/ESPN b/c if you have too many they murder you b/c of the limited roster spots, and the fact that there are weekly rosters and a paper-thin bench. As a result, I had Turnbow stashed on my bench but just dropped him for Garland since I've learned to like playing the matchups, 2-start pitchers, etc. and I have a lot of K's to make up (my hitting is tops, pitching near the bottom) since I have 4 closers to start (Hoffman, Percival, Foulke, Looper if you can believe it, the only league I have any of them in).
Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day, teach a man to fish and he'll drown because you forgot to teach him to swim.

someone dropped Rowand like the first week so I picked him up thinking hell come back from where he left off last season and unfortunately he hasnt done crap
Screw the Peavy and Burnett Watches, I'm probably one of the laziest people in the world
I wouldn't use #1 waver priority on Turnbow, for what might be short-term saves help. A lot of people seem to think that Adams is going to get the job back once he gets his head together, and will wind up the season with more saves than Turnbow. I feel for you, though, having to depend on the Brewers' closeer situation...
You think Turnbow is bad WW pick-up? Last year, I actually picked up Chan Ho Park after a "nice" outing....only to see him give up like 8 ERs in his next start....however, I did quickly drop him after that.....that has to be my worst pick up ever...
