When will Beltre explode?

Postby Rhino Tuff » Tue Apr 26, 2005 12:02 am

Not that I'm not happy with his RBI numbers but this guy is going to start slugging some out or is Seattle really messing up his power?

Like I said all spring long. Beltre will regress towards the mean this year. He is doing about what he did for the Dodgers all those years, minus the contract year explosion.

0 = the number of teams i drafted Beltre on.

When Sexson thaws, I suspect Beltre will, too. And vice versa. :-b

Didn't know he was combustable. 8-o

:-o :-o :-o

Don't own him here. He went way, way, way, quicker than I would have taken him. Definitely overrated coming into the season due to last year's monster numbers.

Will he heat up? Sure, but I wouldn't be looking for last year's numbers from him this year. :-°

agreed. But I think the guy who created the thread is jumping the gun here on him not hitting any Home Runs.

There are a lot of 35+ Home Run guys right now who are looking like Brian Roberts (the Brian Roberts before he found magic potion on the snow white ride at disneyland)

Sheffield
Chavez
Carlos Lee
Vernon Wells
Helton
Thome

the list goes on and on of big home run guys who aren't hitting home runs right now. just chill the homers will come

I bet Beltre finishes

100 runs
35 Home Runs
115 RBI
290 avg

When somebody straps c-4 to his bat?

I personally think he's in a funk at the moment. Normally, before last year, he'd heat up in the later months. I'd expect something similar this year.

I'm a dissappointed Mariners Fan. :-[
Yes, I was, uh... I was thinking about ordering the tape, the videotape... about the college girls and the... the wild... the wildness. They're going wild or something? Somebody told me... about going wild.

I agree with most of the sentiments so far. If you bought into the hype from last year and are looking for him to carry your team I think you may be in for a long year. I don't think he's this bad, but he's not Beltre '04 either.

FWIW, beltre is a very streaky hitter, and even last year, he only hit like .280 in may, so it's not like he's uncablable of "cold" spells. the HR will come. i refuse to panick after 3 weeks, and will maintain that he finishes the year at or around 40 homers. :-)

Don't get me wrong he wasn't my first rounder or anything and I think he is playing fine he has close to 14 or 15 RBIs plus he is hitting for average. I don't think he going to sink into oblivion like a lot of others on this board and I definitely think the adjustment to Seattle is taking the toll on Sexson and Beltre both but does he tend to heat up as the summer progress?

BTW love all the guys jumping in with their negative thoughts to brag about the fact that they didn't draft a guy. Probably frustrated Nomar owners...
