He does have a 0.95 ERA so far this year at Fenway, but I would leave him on the bench until he can string together some solid starts. The Angels are a pretty dangerous team, and you probably only want to use Lowe right now against Detroit, Baltimore and Cleveland.

if he's going to be that limited, then would it be better just to drop him for a free agent sp? someone like zambrano, sheets, johnson, day, rogers, radke, etc.?

Well, he may at least partially regain his 2002 form, so I would wait on him another few weeks before cutting bait. Don't expect anything close to last year's performance though.
