Hey! There will be no mention of the b-word around Harden owners, particularly Harden owners who, like me, kept him over Beckett primarily because of Beckett's blister history. Still, I'm liking the fact that he's not walking many at all. It's early, but this could be a huge season.
Ha! That's funny, I did the exact same thing and traded Beckett before the season started. Now I kind of wish I'd kept both, actually.

Yeah, you're right. It was more of a pipedream than anything...but I realize Beane had monetary concerns in mind too. Too bad he couldn't screw someone with Zito. Maybe he was hoping for a hot-start so he could trade before the deadline.
there many reasons he kept zito over hudson
zito is locked up for 2 more years
hudson just this one
hudson makes 7million
zito made just around 1million last season (he is the bargain)
and if he wanted to keep zito long term he could at a cheaper price based on last years and so far this year's performance
remeber zito is still VERY Valuable in REAL baseball (if he isnt in fantasy baseball lately)
he entering that world of guys like mike Hampton (ewwwwwww, who are very valuable in real life)
i can't believe i just compared zito to mike hampton (i think zito is better then him, u have to agree with that lol)

LOL, you haven't kept up with my recent posts. I am actually a big Hampton fan, ask LBJ.
But what do you mean he is more valuable in real life? I guess I just don't see why? I mean besides the money aspect....that is a big aspect, but to be honest Hudson is worth every penny of the $7 million he would make, and Zito is going to demand a high salary in a couple of years as well...based simply of the Cy Young sitting in his house.
Tim Hudson is an absolute Super ACE, and its amazing to me how many people were so DOWN on him last year and preseason this year UNTIL he got traded to Atlanta and started this year red hot.
Go look up some of my posts the last 2 years, I have stated many times that Tim Hudson isnt just a good or great pitcher, he is one of the BEST pitchers in ALL of baseball.
And very underrated in fantasy baseball b/c he dosen't get flashy strikeouts (although the move to the NL will see his strikeouts jump up)
With out a doubt Huddy is the man, I mean the guy is on my avator isn't he?
now mike hampton is the biggest peace of trash i have ever seen, but very valuable in real baseball.
barry zito is a million times better then mike hampton, and thats the end of the discussion lol
Ha! I respect your optimism, but you will have to do some better convincing than that. Hampton will put up better numbers in 3 of the 4 pitching categories (ERA, WHIP, Wins) with Zito only winning in Ks. There is a slight possibility that the Braves' offense will suck so bad all year that Zito actually gets more wins, but I highly doubt it.
Hampton is an extremely underrated pitcher, that as long as you can take the hit in Ks, is very valuable. He is not the same pitcher he was in 2003 and pre-ASB 2004. The way he is pitching now, and the way he pitched post ASB is the real Mike Hampton that we knew and loved before he went to Colorado.

he is a model of INCONSISTENCY. ive never seen a guy go so hot and so cold in my life
He WAS a model of inconsitency. Now that he's got the groundball pitcher mentality, and a surgically repaired knee, he turned in to a tremendous pitcher. I will be very surprised if he is not regarded as a good pitcher after this season. I expect him to be great, but like I said, I realize not getting many Ks will hurt his value. I have him as my 5th starter behind Hudson, Bonderman, Mussina, Penny (when healthy), and maybe even Wolf, that could make him sixth. In that spot, he's an absolutely ideal fit. Can't beat the ratios considering he's likely available on your local WW, or at least was at the beginning of the season.
I really doubt Hampton has an ERA below 4 at the end of the year. Below 4.50 would surprise me too. With his horrible K/BB he needs to keep the ball in the park almost every single game. He did taht in 1999 and 2000, but not since then. To top it off, even when he's at his absolute best, his WHIP and K's still stink. I doubt he'll never be regarded as a good fantasy pitcher again. I'm not saying Zito is better though, they're both pretty crappy.
