I haven't seen it widely reported, but Soriano found out his father died shortly before yesterday's game. He's been in a slump and went 0-4 last night. I just heard in case anyone wanted to know that Soriano will not be leaving the Yanks for any time. I have him and at this point would rather him take a couple days to grieve and then get back into the swing. However, ballplayers in the past have shown a grat ability to excell in situations like this.

NEW YORK -- Alfonso Soriano's father passed away on Wednesday, but the Yankees' All-Star second baseman said that he has no plans to leave the team to return to the Dominican Republic.

He wasn't tight with his dad. If his mom or grandfather died he would take bereavement time.

I was at the game last last and thought "I wish he had two fathers" when he hit that HR. I was praying for the cycle after he had the two toughest hits of the cycle after two ABs.

Well actually it was in his first 3 plate appearances since he went HR, SF, 3B.
