I think the responders have nailed it here. Typically that O-rating is strictly stats based, and guys who have been injured or have short careers are going to be undervalued. For drafts purposes this year, though, they definitely tweaked the rankings to more accurately reflect the players' values. This was a new development, I think, as in prior years it was possible to get lots of values based on those artificially low early rankings. Some of us had to work a little harder this year.
Anyway, yeah...ratings probably dropped because now they've reverted to their strict stat basis.

Actually, I think Yahoo made some type of error over the course of last night (maybe loaded the wrong rankings or something).
I say this because Victor Martinez now has an O-rank of 226??? Jose Reyes 510??? They were ranked higher previously (much higher). I'm pretty sure Yahoo is experiencing "technical difficulties".

You might want to check the other link for other discrepancies. My favorite has to be Joe Mauer at 710. I mean the guy could perhaps be the best catcher in all of baseball.

Anyone know what formula Yahoo! uses to calculate rank (not O-Rank)--as in, how do they weight SBs vs. HRs vs. BA, etc?

I would imagine they are weighted based on the overall scarcity of that stat. ie: SB's are worth more than R's because there are much less of them throughout the league.

I've got to agree with the "technical difficulties" theory. Whether you like Yahoo's rankings or not, I've never seen anything like this before. I mean, they're not making ANY sense at all right now.

They are definitely having some issues.
Last night after the game, Oswalt was recorded as pitching 17 innings and having 15Ks!
Fixed by the morning though...
