Brad Penny to pitch Sunday

Postby nmarq8 » Thu Apr 21, 2005 1:45 am

Penny said it himself in an interview tonight that he will get the start Sunday night at Coors. While pitching in a couple rehab starts in Las Vegas Penny threw up to 97 in the middle innings, but the club was hesistant to keep him in too long and kept him on a low-80 pitch count. Therefore, he'll be on a pitch count of 90 in his first start of the season.

I'm not starting him, but I just wanted to let you all know how he's doing.

I'm going to be very glad to have him back. Of course, being as it's his first start of the year and at Coors Field no less, I'm going to keep him reserved for his first start.

I may start him anyway. Bedard, Padilla and Livan Hernandez have already killed my ERA and WHIP for the week anyway.

Start him as a H2H Hail Mary, but I can't see starting him in a Roto. Still, it's great news that he is back.

Awesome. I have kind of built my teams without even remembering that he is coming back. Time to trade.

But no, I wont be starting him @ Coors so he can ride the DL a little longer.

I was thinking the same thing, kinda forgot about him and have gotten by just fine without him. I am not going to be starting him at Coors, but this is definately good news.

I wonder how many owners would have the courage to start a pitcher throwing his first game after an injurt at Coors feild. Not I.

How lucky he is to pitch at the most hitter friendly stadium in the league, recovering from injury and probably not as sharp as he can be. I wonder if he'll get out of the first inning. They better have their long relief pitchers ready. I have Penny on one team, if you can't tell, you can count me among those not starting him.

I don't think I'll be starting him...but...everything I've read from thehat and from anywhere else online, all say he's VERY excited to get a chance to pitch again (and even asked to be activated in Colorado!)...and this after some stellar rehab starts. If I were a betting man, I think he pitches very well and gets the win. However, I'm in a roto league so I'm not going to risk it most likely. Penny is going to be one heck of a pitcher this year though.
