Hudson for me, the big difference isn't how good of talents they are ... to me Hudson is flat out a better pitcher.

if you look historically, certainly hudson is better and if we are talking real-world, i take hudson again but we're talking fantasy

zambrano only pitched about 30 more innings than hudson last year and had the following comparison numbers:

209.2 16 0 188 2.75 1.22
188.2 12 0 103 3.53 1.26

that's 85 more k's, a better WHIP and a significantly better ERA ... i know hudson has history but he's not clearly better than zambrano & for fantasy purposes, his k's might make him better

Give me Zambrano anyday. He might be worth less than Hudson but he's 100x more fun to watch! :-D

Hudson was also hurt a portion of last year.

agreed on hudson being hurt but that's why i highlighted only 30 more innings ... that's just 3 games ... zambrano missed time as well ... further, hudson's increasing age and possible injuries do weigh against him

Let's also not forget AL v. NL, which does make a difference. Put it this way: I imagine Zambrano will be a better pitcher in the near future than Hudson is now. But right now, I'll still take Hudson by the SLIMMEST of margins.

Well pre-season I had them very close to each other. Zam got a slight benefit from his extra K's though. But Hudson is more consistent and reliable, and less prone to fall apart for a game like Zam already has. Also when comparing last season's numbers you have to consider that Hudson is now in the NL which makes a pretty big difference in ERA/WHIP, and of course K's.

So really, on expected performance I'd say they're about equal, with a silght edge to Zam. But I'd take Hudson because of his consistency. Can't really go wrong either way though.

If we are talking about real world I agree. For fantasy I think C-Zam has more value.
