Well, I've tweaked my team a fair bit since opening day, in part with the help of you friendly people. I'm curious what you think of my team now, and of the changes I've made to it. It's still heavily Angels-biased, but a shade less so than it was (7 of 23 rather than 8 of 21).
We're playing Yahoo! H2H standard, 10 teams, 21 positions, stats R, HR, RBI, SB, K, GIDP, OBP, SLG, W, L, SV, K, HR, ERA, WHIP. As it happens, I'm in first place by a half-game with a 19-9-2 record after two weeks.
Here's who I've got:
C A.J. Pierzynski (CWS)
1B Dimitri Young (DET) [1B]
2B Chone Figgins (LAA) [2B/SS/3B/OF]
SS Pedro Feliz (SF) [1B/SS/3B]
3B Mike Lowell (FLA)
OF Vladimir Guerrero (LAA)
OF Garret Anderson (LAA)
OF Hideki Matsui (NYY)
Util José Guillén (WSH)
BN Jorge Cantu (TB) [2B/3B]
BN Bengie Molina (LAA) [C] - on DL
SP Roger Clemens (HOU)
SP Josh Beckett (FLA)
SP Dontrelle Willis (FLA)
RP Francisco Rodriguez (LAA)
RP Bob Wickman (CLE)
P Ted Lilly (TOR) [SP]
P Mike Hampton (ATL) [SP]
P John Thomson (ATL) [SP]
P Scot Shields (LAA) [RP]
BN Jaret Wright (NYY) [SP] -- considering dropping
DL Kelvim Escobar (LAA) [SP] - on DL
DL Carlos Silva (MIN) [SP] - on DL
And here's who I started with but no longer have, and why I dropped/traded them:
1B Justin Morneau (MIN) -- went on DL, and Dimitri Young was hot
2B Jerry Hairston Jr. (CHC) [2B/OF] -- ok but not exciting; Cantu seemed to be performing better, plus can play 3B while Lowell is slumping
3B Aaron Boone (CLE) -- was not producing at all when Mike Lowell became available on waivers
C Paul LoDuca (FLA) [C/OF] -- traded w/Zito for Rodriguez
2B D'Angelo Jiminez (CIN) -- dropped for Pedro Feliz, who was doing well and provided multiposition versatility including SS, which unmarried Chone Figgins from that position
RP Brendan Donnelly (LAA) -- wasn't reliable enough, and wanted to replace with a closer (who wound up being Wickman, who has a high ERA but 4 saves, which I need)
P Barry Zito (OAK) -- traded w/Lo Duca for Rodriguez, plus I decided I didn't want any players from the AL West other than Angels so there wouldn't be regular conflict of interest when I watch games
P John Lackey (LAA) -- not nearly dependable enough
P Dan Haren (OAK) [SP/RP] -- non-Angels AL West player (see Zito comment)
BN Heath Bell (NYM) [RP] -- got sent to minors, plus I really don't need more than one middle reliever (if I even need that many), which I didn't understand at draft time
Thanks for any thoughts!
Ivan.
