Can this be the end of all the "Is Aubrey Huff real" posts. Seriously, what more do people want to see? It's not like this guy just jumped out of Pluto to perform well this season. Last year, he hit .313, with 23 HRs, 59 RBIs, in 454 ABs (approx 2/3 of a season). And now he already has 11 HRs in mid-May.
So for the millionth time:
Yes, the guy IS for real.
No, he shouldn't be sitting on any WW. Any league where this guy is lingering on the WW needs to be seriously questioned as not being a competitve league.
The guy is 26 and is peaking! 40 HRs is certainly within reach. Get him. Okay. Just pick the dude up NOW and quit asking silly questions.
I can't believe people haven't caught on until now.
I'd start Huff. In my view, Huff is easily a top-10 first bagger. He's also on a tear. So I would ride him while he's red hot. Whatever you may give up in RBIs, you'll get back in HRs and average. Huff is a .300 hitter who will raise his average to that mark. He also has 11 HRs to Durazo's 5. Long-term Huff is also a better option because of Durazo's injury history.
Hmmm. I'd pick him up in my league. He's a free agent there. But I have Sheffield, Griffey, Kearns, and Edmonds, and Wells in the outfield and Thome at first. Don't really have room for him. All of the above are outperforming him except for maybe homeruns, except for Thome, and he'll come around.
Is it Jason Giambi or Jeremy Giambi that you are considering dropping for Huff? If it's Jeremy Giambi, go do it in a heartbeat. If it's Jason Giambi, don't drop him under any circumstances. He is a top 10 overall player, a stud, and a notorious slow starter and you will look like the village idiot if you drop him because someone will pick him up and he will go on fire.
Also, why do you have Helton, Bagwell and Giambi (assuming it's Jason)? How many teams are in this league? These are all top 5 1B, and if you are in a normal 12 team league, the rest of your team must be pretty lousy to have those three. I would trade two of the three for upgrades elsewhere.
