Hey guys, heading into my draft this Saturday so I'm getting itchier as I get closer! I'm really high on Beltran and Prior as I'm sure you all are. The guys in my league for the most part are "big-name" guys so I get a feeling both of them are going to slip farther then they should.
My question is, where do you see them ending up and where would it be "sensible" to take them? I'm thinking Beltran shouldn't last past the early 3rd in most people's drafts but I have a feeling he could drop to mid 3rd, early 4th in mine. When is it too early to "jump the gun" on him or should I just wait it out? Should I take him in the 2nd? And Prior I have no idea about, thats why you guys are here! Thanks!
I think Prior could be the ace on the Cub's staff this year, and that's saying a lot considering the Cub's staff. Most would say Wood will be the ace, but Wood is no where near as mature as Prior. I'd take Prior in the 4th-5th round...no way should you let him go to the 7th. By the way, how many teams in your league?
From the official rulebook of baseball: "Baseball is a game played between two teams of nine players each." Therefore, baseball is a game played only in the National League.
Beltran in most cases should be a third round pick he went a bit earlier in our mock draft than i thought, and as for Prior expect him to go between rounds 6-8, at least thats my opinion
Beltran went early in the mock draft but don't expect to see him on the board after the 4th. Prior will be someone's number 1 or 2 starter so it depends how fast pitchers go in your draft.
Beltran was one of the top ten (certainly top 20) roto players last year. He's a strong 30/30 threat, and a good young player. He's likely to go between late 2nd and early 5th round, from what I can tell. If you have a chance to grab him in the 4th, I think you'd better go for it.
Prior, on the other hand, is still something of an unknown. He could be a top 10 pitcher, or a complete waste of time this year. He may go as early as 4th round, but I'd expect him to be around in the 6th or 7th. Huge upside, but I wouldn't waste a 4th or 5th round pick on him, personally.
