Crawford to be moved from leadoff spot?

Postby sportsgalore » Tue Apr 19, 2005 11:08 am

from Rotoworld.com

With Tampa Bay's offense struggling, manager Lou Piniella may move Carl Crawford out of the leadoff spot.
''We've talked about getting him out of the leadoff spot,'' Piniella said. ''Put it this way: I've got more possibilities in the leadoff spot than I do in the 3-4-5 spots. We've only played 12 games. Let's just play a while longer and see what happens.'' Crawford said he wouldn't mind a move.

It's not a bad idea. He has decent pop and doesn't really excel at getting on base (leadoff men should). It's certainly better than batting Sanchez 3rd.

I'll take this opportunity to again say:

FREE JOEY!!!

I suppose Lou wants to put Sanchez and his 69 career walks at leadoff. Good call, idiot. Joey can work a count really well...he seriously reminds me so much of Pierre. So what if his defense sucks...Sanchez's is nearly as bad. He can only get better with more work. Since the team isn't going anywhere (seriously Lou, if you saw the game last night...don't kid yourself), that work might as well come at the worst stadium in baseball.

I sure hope that this doesn't take because he's my only legitimate source for steals. I really don't need more RBI's from him.

Yep, because he's going to stop running and instead wait for the big bats of Julio Lugo, Josh Phelps, and Travis Lee to drive him home.

I'd like to say the same thing to Piniella that I would tell a fantasy manager. It is April 19th. Sanchez batting leadoff makes the lineup worse not better.
